What is carbon offsetting
If we want to avoid the climate disaster that is brought on by climate change, we have to offset our personal carbon footprint. Offsetting is when you directly remove an amount of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere using methods like direct capture/planting trees, or when you prevent future emissions from being released by reducing emissions elsewhere. The idea is to remove our personal footprint from the atmosphere or even better to remove more that what we emit. Carbon offsets are a step closer for us to become carbon neutral.

Curbing global temperature rise to 1.5°C by 2050 will take your commitment!
Our causes...
All money given to calc02, will be passed on to multiple causes that we support for the corresponding emissions to be offset.
We support the following organisations:

 1. Boroume:

Boroume is a non-profit organization whose mission is to reduce food waste and fight malnutrition in Greece. Its volunteers collect food waste from various sources and redistribute it to charities and NGOs helping people facing food insecurity. For every 1€ donated, Boroume report that they are able to effectively save 52 food portions, each one accounting for 1.47kg of Co2 emissions saved (as calculated by the European Commission in their review of Boroume). Our support to Boroume efficiently reduces fresh food production and saves related carbon emissions.

 2. Swaplanet:

Swaplanet is an Athens-based start-up, which operates an online platform that helps users swap used children clothes. Launched in the summer of 2021, Swaplanet is yet to break-even and relies on funding provided by impact and early stage investors and business angels. Our donations to Swaplanet will help the company in reaching out to potential customers and increase its user base. Every single purchase made through Swaplanet practically means one fewer item of clothing manufactured and the corresponding carbon emissions saved.

3. Plan(e)t foods:

Planet foods is the 1st Plant based & Carbon Negative Ice Cream in the World. They begun their journey as the first vegan start-up in Greece and launched in 2021. Planet foods' solution is not to be a substitute to dairy ice-cream but as they describe a successor. For every kilogram of their vegan ice cream sold instead of dairy, they are able to prevent 3kg of Co2 from being released. Our donations to Planet foods will help the company in reaching out to potential customers and in growing their business, achieving carbon offset. Every single purchase made through Planet foods practically means a reduction in dairy products and a reduction in carbon emissions.
